The bicycle is a practical, environmentally friendly means of transport in Merano/Meran, also thanks to a variety of bike paths. These are suitable for the whole family, and run from Merano to Bolzano/Bozen or into the Passeiertal and Vinschgau valleys. On organized bike tours offered by "Sissi Tours" you can also experience rustic South Tyrol and the rural way of life firsthand.
In Merano there are two free bike rental stations: one in Via Piave/Piavestraße street (at the bus terminal next to the Terme Merano), which is open from 23 April to 20 October, and another at Merano's main railway station, which is open from 30 March to 13 October. Both rental stations have the following opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Mountain and city bikes for ladies, men and children are available at the rental station. In addition, the bike rental in Via Piave street also offers e-bikes. Protective helmets and child seats are provided.
The varied landscape of Merano and Environs forms a varied mountain bike region, with altitudes ranging between 300 and 3,000 meters. Leisurely routes lead between traditional mountain huts, where both Italian pasta and South Tyrolean dumplings are served. The Bike Highline Merano connects the mountain huts and inns on the Naturno Nörderberg mountain and leads along 25 kilometers through the mountain landscape of the Vinschgau Valley. The Texelgruppe Nature Park and the unique Ultental Valley offer high-Alpine singletrack trails. Advanced bikers can also attempt to master these demanding routes together with guides from the MTB Academies.
