The most romantic of walks, the Gilf, conquers you with the exciting poetic phrases engraved on the Meran benches surrounded by lush vegetation. A highly emotional journey dedicated to illustrious authors such as Edoardo Sanguineti, Alda Merini, Christian Morgenstern, Ezra Pound, Rainer Maria Rilke and many others. Alda Merini wrote: "Poetry is a great distraction from pain, from the heavy things of life. Poetry is also a chain, but a chain of flowers".
"The poetry walk" is a project of the Civic Library of Merano, born in 1997 from the collaboration with the artist Marco Nereo Rotelli. The result of the project is the creation of a path dedicated to poetry or, more precisely, of a work between art and poetry that places itself in the city as a space for reflection. Based on this idea, the artist engraved with the fire pyrograph, on the benches typical of the Merano walks, a series of verses by Italian and German poets. These excerpts from the poems come from various editions of "MeranoPoesia", or from poets who have stayed in our city at times or have lived here. In this way, a path was created that unites different cultures and traditions.
