A floral skirt for Empress Sissi
It is arguably Merano's best-known tribute to Empress Elisabeth of Austria: the Sissi Statue of white marble, created in 1903 by Viennese artist Hermann Klotz to commemorate Sissi's four sojourns in Merano (in 1870, 1871, 1889 and 1897). The monument is located in the Elisabeth Park, at the start of the Summer Promenade.

For the Merano Flower Festival, South Tyrol's florists will create a skirt of local spring flowers for Her Majesty's statue, while a matching bouquet will adorn Sissi's hands.
