safeguarded. However, as times evolve, so do we, underscoring the imperative for a
broader perspective on tourism. This journey encompasses safeguarding habitats for our
flora and fauna, adopting resource-efficient practices, embracing energy-conserving
consumption, opting for conscious eating, advancing eco-friendly transport, preserving
cultural authenticity, and harmonizing these endeavors with the societal and economic

This is why, for the past few years, the South Tyrol Tourist Destination and the Merano
Tourist Office have been increasingly focused on making our environment more climate-
friendly for both locals and visitors. Initial steps, such as banning plastic at the Merano
Christmas Market, significantly reducing printed materials, choosing more eco-friendly
paper options, and launching the new MeranoAPP, have already been set in motion. Driven
by the responsibility to offer future generations – humans, animals, and plants alike – a
place where everyone feels welcome, including our guests.
As we partner with diverse organizations and businesses, including our new Green Team at
the Merano Tourist Office, we're dedicated to uplift sustainability. Our goals include better
visitor management, advocating fair trade and wages, and aiming for the common good. We
strive to genuinely reflect our vibrant culture and traditions, manage resources wisely,
reduce waste, and safeguard our natural landscapes. But your support is crucial! Only with
