Hiking tour to Crodarotta summit

General description

The Crodarotta summit rises high over the Vernagt reservoir at the centre of the picturesque Schnalstal Valley in South Tyrol. The dramatic views across the reservoir and the rest of the valley will stay with you forever.

Route description

From the car park at the lake, we take trail no. 18 (signpost: Schröfwand), in the beginning along a tarmacked road and then to the right through the larch forest and on up to the tree line. We continue along the steep grassy slopes up to the wide summit ridge and on to the large cross at Schröferwand (2,890 m a.s.l). The view from here to the Ötztal Alps, to Saldurspitze and Finailspitze, Similaun and Weißkugel and also Nockspitze, Gerstgrasserspitze and Berglerspitze is spectacular. We take the same route back down to the reservoir.
