Route description

Start walking along path no. 27-28 and then no. 28A up to the Bischofskofel and Vigiljoch, enjoying the marvellous panorama of the Dolomite peaks and the distant Ulten valley on the way. Vigiljoch is the most northerly point of the impressive Zufrittkamm, part of the Ortler Group, and has been a crossing point for travellers and goods for more than 10,000 years. The well-known Merano mineral water comes from radio-active springs found at the Bärenbad Alm on Vigiljoch. Continue on up path no. 28-9 and then no. 9A to reach the high pastures of the Naturnser Alm for a fantastic view of the Naturno Sonnenberg. Path no. 27 will take you on through the Siebenbrunner Wald forest and back to the mountain station of the Aschbach cable-car, then down to the valley for the return bus or train journey back to Naturno.
