The Oetzi Glacier Tour in Schnalstal Valley

Hiking in the footsteps of the Iceman

The Oetzi Glacier Tour in Schnalstal Valley is operative all-year round. In summer, it functions as a guided hike while in winter it works as a ski mountaineering tour led by experienced local guides.

Led by experienced local guides, hikes start from Maso Corto/Kurzras every Tuesday to the Tisenjoch ridge at 3,200m a.s.l., the place where Oetzi the ice mummy was discovered. After crossing the Hochjochferner Glacier and reaching the summit, hikers are rewarded with a spectacular view of the northern face of the Similaun mountain.

To be able to take part in the 8-hour Oetzi Glacier Tour in the Schnalstal Valley, hikers need to be sure-footed and have a high level of physical fitness. However, no prior high mountain hiking experience is necessary.
