Traveling with Tisner Reisen: Schnals Valley – Ötziʼs Resting Place
A trip into the Schnals Valley and on to Karthaus, a village built around a monastery dating back to the 14th Century and abolished in 1782. Includes a visit to the monastery. In the afternoon, a journey to Kurzras, a village at the end of the valley with views over the Ötztal Alps – it was on the Tisenjoch, in this mountain range, where Ötzi, the prehistoric man found preserved in the local ice, was unearthed. Alternative: trip to Vernagt reservoir – during the building of which in the 1950s, some of the village’s farms were submerged. Time for a stroll or a coffee break. Also in this valley is the Finailhof (1953m), the highest grain farm in the Alps. We then return to your resort.
