A) Regulations – General Information about the Ötzi Alpine Marathon

1.) Organizer:
The Val Senales/Schnalstal Amateur Sports Club, ASV Schnals for short, is the sole organizer of the Ötzi Alpine Marathon.

2.) Conditions of Participation:
All athletes who have reached the age of 18 as of 9 April 2022 are eligible to participate. Participants must meet the physical requirements for participation in competitions with high performance standards, which are set by their respective countries of origin. All participants are obliged to show a sports medical certificate when receiving their starting number. If the above requirements are not met, the participant will not be allowed to start. There is no right to a refund of the entry fee. All participants unconditionally accept the exclusion of liability of the organizing committee. Participation in the race is at the individual's own risk.

3.) Venue, Date, Time, Start and Finish: Saturday 9 April 2022
TRIATHLON: the start is carried out in 2 stages in Naturno/Naturns (554 m). Relays of 3 persons (teams) as well as individual competitors are allowed. The start of the women's and men's individual competition is at 8:45 a.m. and the start of the women's and men's team competition and mixed teams is at 9:45 a.m..
DUATHLON (RUN & SKIMO): the start is carried out in 2 stages in Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau (1,508 m). Relays of 2 persons (teams) as well as individual participants are allowed. The start of the women's and men's individual competition is at 9:30 a.m. and the start of the women's and men's team competition and mixed teams is at 10 a.m..
The finish point is located on the Grawand near the upper station of the Glacier Cable Car at 3,212 m above sea level (see route map). In the case of inclement weather conditions the race will be moved to an alternative route.

4.) Time Limit:
All participants arriving at Grawand after 4 p.m. will not appear in the final rankings. Individual participants and 2/3 relay teams arriving after 11:15 a.m. in Hof am Wasser, 12:15 p.m. in Madonna di Senales, 1:45 p.m. in Maso Corto/Kurzras, 2:30 p.m. at the Teufelsegghütte mountain hut, 3:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Grawand (finish) will be excluded in any case and will not appear in the final ranking. The starting numbers will be taken from these athletes by the marshals. Services are no longer guaranteed!

5.) Class Division:
TRIATHLON:
Individual competition: women, men up to 40, men over 40, men over 50
Relay of 3 persons (team competition): women, men up to 99 (total), men over 100,
Men over 150 (minimum age of each athlete 50), mixed

DUATHLON: (Run & Skimo)
Individual competition: women, men
Relay of 2 persons (team competition) women, men, mixed

Attention: in the relay events each athlete of the team may only compete in one discipline!

6.) Prize Money – Awards:
A total of € 14,100 in prizes, including vouchers (taxes already deducted) will be distributed as follows (see also menu item for prize money)

Award for Individual Classification: Men / Women
Award for Relays: Men / Women
Mixed Team (1 woman + 2 men or 1 man + 2 women fall in the same category)
There is a prize for the best in each discipline.
IMPORTANT: Minimum number of participating teams!
If there are less than 8 teams entered in the women's or mixed event, the prize money will be reduced by 50%.

7.) Issuing of Starting Numbers:
The distribution of starting numbers will take place on Friday, 8 April 2022, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, 9 April 2022 from 7 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at the race office in the town hall in Naturno. Please present a valid sports medical certificate when claiming your race number. Starting numbers may not be passed on to other persons.

8.) Award Ceremony and Prize Distribution:
This will take place after the end of the competition on the covered fairground at the Haus der Gemeinschaft in Unser Frau (the transition area for cycling-running) at 4:30 p.m. Prizes: see Prize Money

9.) Publication of the Results List:
The results lists will be published in the local media and on the Internet after the conclusion of the competition.

10.) Timekeeping:
Timekeeping is carried out by the company DATASPORT AG. A chip system is used.

11.) Participation of Minors
Athletes who have reached the age of 16 by the day of the race can also participate in the race, in the team competition. However, they will require written consent of those exercising parental responsibility (ex patria potestà) over the athlete. A parental superior must be present at the handing out of the starting numbers, who will sign a release of liability on behalf of his or her minor son or daughter for any non-serious fault on the part of the organization due to injury, accident or incident that may occur during the race, or in the event of abandonment and the resulting return journey.
At the end of the competition or any eventual abandonment, the minor will be taken back by the staff to the senior responsible companion. Upon this return, all related custody obligations are terminated by the organizers.
When picking up the starting number, a medical certificate of fitness valid on the day of the race is obligatory, the route for athletes in the "U18 category" is the same as the one for the upper category with the same route. There is no alternative route. The start of the "U18 category" takes place at the same time as that of the athletes of full age. The "U18 category" is part of the overall classification. All athletes of the "U18 category" are in any case obliged to respect the regulations in full.
