Restaurant Wasserfall – Waterfall Alpine Trail (Alpinsteig) – Fletscherhof – Fletscher Steps – Restaurant Wasserfall – Partschins Waterfall – Restaurant Birkenwald
The circular walk starts at the last stop of bus line 265 at the restaurant Wasserfall. Behind the restaurant, the path passes the historic waterfall power station. Follow the 8B markings for a short distance to the left-hand turn signed “Waterfall Alpine Trail”.
The trail climbs steadily in a series of switchbacks. At the junction to the viewpoint, a short detour is well worth it: a brief descent leads to emerald-green pools, fed by small cascading waterfalls (known locally as “Fallelen” - small waterfalls). A rest area with valley views offers a perfect place to pause.
Return the same way to the main route, continue uphill past an impressive rock formation known as a Knott (big rock), and reach the paved road. Turn right and follow the road to the turn-off for the descent on trail 8B. The path passes the historic mountain farm Fletscherhof (dating back to 1357) and descends via the Fletscher Steps to the restaurant Wasserfall.
From there, continue downhill past the Partschins Waterfall to Restaurant Birkenwald (the second-to-last stop on bus line 265), where the walk ends.
Extra tip: If you’d like to get even closer to the waterfall first, take a short detour (about 5 minutes) to the viewing platform near Gasthaus Wasserfall.
