Together for the Future of the Passeiertal Valley

Preserving the Passeiertal Valley’s Natural Heritage

The Passeiertal Valley is characterised by its diverse cultural landscape, vibrant villages, impressive mountain scenery and picturesque valleys. These qualities form the foundation of local people’s quality of life while also shaping the experience of our visitors.

We all – local authorities, businesses, visitors and the people who live in the valley – share responsibility for how this place to live and relax develops in the future. Our focus is on the responsible use of natural resources, strengthening regional structures and promoting the long-term development of tourism in a way that is balanced with the needs of residents, businesses and guests.

Our destination strategy brings together the key areas of action that we continuously develop in cooperation with municipalities, businesses and other partners. These include mobility, the regional economy, culture and resource management. Practical measures focus on mobility within the valley and for arrivals, strengthening regional economic cycles, expanding the use of renewable energy sources and preserving natural and cultural landscapes through existing protection schemes and the responsible use of resources.

We are delighted that in 2024 the Passeiertal Valley was assessed by Green Destinations against a GSTC-recognised standard and was awarded the South Tyrol Sustainability Label – Level 1. The assessment is based on an internationally recognised framework of criteria for sustainable destination management and provides an initial benchmark of our current position. It shows where the Passeiertal Valley stands today and serves as the basis for the targeted development of measures across the defined areas of action. The next assessment is scheduled for 2027.

In this way, we continue to develop the Passeiertal Valley step by step – as an attractive place to live for local people and as a diverse holiday destination for our visitors.
