Born in Naples in 1958, where he lives and works, he is the author of four crime and noir series: one featuring Inspector Ricciardi (Einaudi), the Bastardi di Pizzofalcone (Einaudi), one dedicated to Sara Morozzi (Rizzoli) and one featuring Mina Settembre (Einaudi). In 2012, he won the Scerbanenco Prize for *Il metodo del Coccodrillo*. In 2021, he received an honorary degree in Modern Philology from the University of Naples and a special Nastro d’Argento award for writing. He has also written for the theatre, adapting works by Kesey and Mamet and penning the original plays *Ingresso indipendente*, *Mettici la mano* and *Il silenzio grande*, the latter of which was adapted into a film directed by Alessandro Gassmann and awarded at Bif&st 2022.
