Beppe (63) and Carlo (34) are two climbers from Caltavuturo, a Sicilian village with a population of just 4,000. The older of the two will help the younger one achieve his sporting goals by guiding him along the rock faces of their hometown, to which they have both returned – 20 years apart – drawn back by their roots and united by a shared passion for sport climbing. Carlo will attempt to repeat the “Last of the Mohicans”, a historic single-pitch route in Caltavuturo, bolted over twenty years ago by Beppe and his friends. The two will be unexpectedly joined by the village’s youngest climber, Giovannino (13). He will prove crucial to the project’s success, following Beppe’s accident during Carlo’s initial attempts on the route. In the narrative, what matters is not the characters’ individual achievement of sporting goals, but what they have in common and share, despite the generational gap.
The screening will be attended by Alessandro Turi, director and writer, and Fabio Tomassoni, on-set sound engineer, sound designer and writer.
Free entry.
