Davide, a thirty-year-old bookseller in a Roman square, sees his life turned upside down when a North African boy is entrusted to him on the street, shortly afterwards becoming the victim of an accident. In hospital, he meets Aminah, a pregnant Algerian teenager who has just arrived in Italy, and decides to take her in. Soon, his home becomes a refuge for a growing number of migrants and homeless people. Reported by his neighbours and arrested for aiding and abetting illegal immigration, Davide faces an odyssey destined to change both him and those around him.
