From Mount Vigiljoch along the Egger Trail to Achbach/Rio Lagundo

This varied hike connects Vigiljoch with Rio Lagundo and offers numerous panoramic views of the Adige Valley and the surrounding mountains along the way. The route mainly follows pleasant forest and hiking trails and is suitable for experienced leisure hikers as well as families with some hiking experience. The starting point is the Vigiljoch mountain station, which can easily be reached by cable car. Several viewpoints along the route invite hikers to stop and enjoy the scenery. The Eggerhof also offers refreshments and a place to rest. Additional dining options can be found in Rio Lagundo. Thanks to its favourable location, the hike can be enjoyed almost all year round.

Directions

The hike begins at the Vigiljoch cable car mountain station. From there, follow the Eggersteig trail and then trail numbers 33 and 31 towards the Eggerhof. The route leads through open woodland and scenic sections with beautiful views of the Adige Valley and the surrounding mountain landscape. The Eggerhof offers a convenient opportunity for a refreshment stop.

From the Eggerhof, continue on trails no. 27, 29 and 30 towards Rio Lagundo. The route passes through a varied landscape of forests and meadows, repeatedly opening up to beautiful views along the way. Finally, follow trail no. 27A to reach the hamlet of Rio Lagundo and the Rio Lagundo cable car mountain station, the endpoint of the hike.

Hiking shoes are recommended. Bring sufficient drinking water.

From Merano direction Lana to the centre of Lana, Vigiljoch cable car valley station

Parking at the valley station of the cable car is limited and subject to a fee. We therefore recommend arriving by public transport.

The cable car is easily accessible by public transport. The Lana bus station is just a 3-minute walk from the valley station. Take advantage of the well-developed public transport network and the convenient connections to the train stations in Marlengo, Merano, or Lana/Postal.
