The hike begins at the mountain station of the Texel cable car and initially follows the Merano High Mountain Trail no. 24 towards the Nasereit mountain hut. Behind the hut, the view opens up to the wild and romantic Ziel Valley– featuring one of the smaller waterfalls that precede the majestic Parcines Waterfall.

From there, the trail continues downhill along the Ziel stream. It follows the natural course of the water and soon merges into the Alpine Circular Waterfall Trail. This varied and scenic section is dotted with crystal-clear pools, small waterfalls, and charming rest areas offering spectacular views across the entire Merano region.

Eventually, you reach the highlight of the tour: the Parcines Waterfall– at 97 meters, the highest waterfall in South Tyrol. Especially during the spring snowmelt, it impresses with its raw, natural power. Right next to the Gasthaus Wasserfall inn, there is a viewing platform where you can experience this natural spectacle up close.

The route then continues downhill on trail no. 1, passing the waterfall and leading to the Gasthaus Birkenwald inn. From there, the trail continues along trail no. 1 to the entrance of the Parcines Waalweg– one of the oldest irrigation channels in the region, still fed by the Ziel stream today.

The Waalweg ends in a gentle descent along trail no. 7A, which leads directly to the center of Parcines and the bus station– ideal for a comfortable return journey.
