On the Merano High Mountain Trail West to the historic farms of the Partschins

General description

This scenic hike along the western section of the Merano High Mountain Trail is especially beautiful in autumn. The combination of the Merano High Mountain Trail Nr. 24, colourful larch forests, historic mountain farms and sweeping views over the Merano basin makes this one of the finest hikes on the Partschins Sonnenberg.

Texelbahn mountain station – Merano High Mountain Trail Nr. 24 – Hochforch farm – Platter farm – Ausergrub farm (Gruberhof) – Winklerhof farm inn – Texelbahn valley station

The hike begins at the Texelbahn cable car mountain station. From here, follow the Merano High Mountain Trail Nr. 24 westwards towards Hochforch farm (1,555 m), enjoying wide panoramic views over the Adige Valley.

After a short section on an asphalt road, turn left onto trail 25, which descends gently through meadows and colourful larch forests, passing Platter farm (1,194 m) and continuing to Ausergrub farm (Gruberhof) at 1,121 metres.

From Ausergrub farm, follow trail 39 along the mountainside towards Partschins. Along the way, a scenic resting place known as “Unterwenter Rast” offers lovely views before the path leads down to the Winklerhof farm inn, a welcoming stop for refreshments.

Just before the suspension bridge, turn right onto trail 1 and follow it along the Zielbach stream back to the Texelbahn valley station, where the hike comes to an end.
