Chicken eggs are usually white or brown, but many wild birds have to carefully camouflage their eggs. The golden eggs of the jacana, a tropical water bird, are covered with a network of dark lines that make them almost invisible in their floating nests. We will go in search of some very special eggs, because it is not only birds that lay eggs! Some snails produce red, perfectly spherical eggs, crocodile eggs can reach twelve centimetres in length, and even sharks form spiral or rectangular egg capsules. Finally, we will make our favourite eggs and hide animals inside them, which will only be visible when illuminated with a torch.
