Roasted chestnuts have always been associated with of the taste of autumn in Merano. Young and old meet together in quaint taverns, traditional wine cellars and mountain inns, to taste and enjoy dumplings and smoked meat, roasted chestnuts and the first young wine, the Susser. Hearty food in a convivial atmosphere and rustic setting makes the "Törggelen" a popular autumn tradition among locals and visitors alike.
