The Climatic Terrain Cure

The climatic terrain cure is a special form of exercise therapy characterised by activity adapted to one’s fitness level, endurance training, and time spent in the outdoors experiencing the landscape, which is carried out through a personalised walking programme.

So-called terrain hiking improves endurance and agility, increases speed and flexibility, reinforces the cardiovascular system, stimulates breathing activity and strengthens muscles, ligaments and joints. It has a positive impact on the metabolism, activates the digestive system and noticeably increases the expenditure of calories.
The climatic terrain cure is recommended for functional cardiovascular disorders, respiratory and metabolic disorders, and above all is a tried and tested method of primary prevention and general health promotion.

The Climatic Terrain Cure in Partschins
Based on studies by the Technical University of Munich examining the water and air quality at Partschins waterfall and the positive assessment of the possibilities for conducting climate therapy in the area, in March 2018 a network of terrain cure paths with 7 different routes and performance ranges was identified. In her report, Professor Dr. Dr. Angela Schuh defines the climatic conditions that are essential for undertaking a climatic terrain cure: “cool air”, “sunlight” and “excellent air quality” - natural elements that are all found in abundance in the Alpine-Mediterranean landscape of Partschins.

Each trail has been assessed in terms of bioclimate and stress physiology in order to facilitate an individually-tailored exercise programme and a gradual increase in personal fitness.
