Mountain Tour to the peak "Hohe Weiße" (3,277 m)

General description

Hiking on an exposed peak, with a steep climb

For experienced, surefooted mountaineers with a head for heights.

Starting point: Stettiner Hütte refuge

Endpoint: Stettiner Hütte refuge

Refreshment stop: Stettiner Hütte refuge

Route description

From Stettiner Hütte refuge head south, down about 50 m to the frozen lake (41, 46) and then southeast, climbing steeply along what remains of the Willy-Ahrens-Weg trail. Continue initially on limestone gravel and at times a very narrow passage to Grafspitze peak. Turn right southwest as soon as it is feasible over the rocky debris, then beneath the neck to the northern foot of the Hohe Weiße summit. Climb to the right westwards to avoid the steep rock face then heading south over less rocky terrain. Following a hardly traceable track, leading to the summit as it becomes less steep on the Hohe Weisse (46).

Return the same way down to the Stettiner Hütte refuge (46, 41).

Due to the snow situation, the tour is only suitable from the beginning/middle of July.
