Mountain Tour to "Kleinen Kreuzspitze" Peak (2,517 m)

A beautiful summit tour with varied terrain and a newly erected summit cross

Starting point: Raffeinhof, Stuls

Ending point: Raffeinhof, Stuls

Rest stop: Kuchlålm Alp

Directions

You start your hike at the car park by the Raffein-Hof farmstead above Stuls. Follow the "Jaufenkamm-Urweg" trail no. 16 towards Schlattacher Joch. The trail initially takes you through shady woodland and leads uphill to Kuchlålm Alp (1,835 m) in around 45 minutes. Alternatively, you can reach the alpine pasture at a more leisurely pace via forest tracks no. 16A and 16B.

From Kuchlålm Alp, continue uphill across steep alpine meadows and past several huts until you reach Schlattacher Joch (Schloter Joch, 2,268 m).

Once at the col, follow trail no. 12 westwards. With hardly any significant ascent, you pass several idyllic small mountain lakes before reaching Übelsee lake (2,313 m). Stay on trail no. 12, which now climbs a little more steeply, traverses the slope below Kleine Kreuzspitze Peak and eventually circles around its summit ridge to another col.

From here, the final stretch takes you up to the summit of Kleine Kreuzspitze Peak (2,517 m) across terrain that is somewhat technical in places.

Descend via the same route as the ascent.

The trail is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.

Recommended equipment

Wear sturdy hiking boots, appropriate clothing for the weather and bring sufficient water and provisions.

Arrival by car

• Coming from Meran towards the Passeiertal Valley, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to St. Leonhard, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße to Moos. After Moos, turn right and continue to Stuls

• Coming from the Timmelsjoch, take the Timmelsjochstraße until just before Moos, then turn left and continue to Stuls

• Coming from the Jaufenpass towards St. Leonhard, take the Jaufenstraße SS44, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße towards Moos and further along the Timmelsjochstraße. After Moos, turn right and continue to Stuls

Parking is available in the car park from Raffein-Höfe farms
