Via ferrata tour to the Ifinger Peak

From Meran 2000 via the Heini Holzer via ferrata to the Ifinger Peak: a delightful tour with a rewarding summit destination for via ferrata enthusiasts

The Ifinger Peak is also referred to as the local mountain of Hafling, Meran and Schenna and reaches a height of 2,581m. The summit offers a wonderful panoramic view. For the via ferrata (B/C), good basic fitness and a lack of vertigo are prerequisites.

Directions

Starting from the mountain station at Meran 2000, hiking Trail No. 3 leads to the fork in the Schartlweg (Trail No. 18), which points towards the via ferrata.

There, turn left into Trail No. 18. The trail leads slightly downhill at first, past two turnoffs, to the signposted access point just below the clearly visible roping-up area.

Description to arrive at destination

Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran/Merano - Bolzano/Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd/Merano Sud and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling/Avelengo.

Two possibilities to reach the summit station:

  • parking place in Naiftal/Val di Nova in Meran, ascent with the Merano 2000 funicular
  • parking place in Falzeben in Hafling, ascent with the Falzeben cable car

  • Bus no. 225 Meran - Hafling - Falzeben
  • Bus no. 204 Hafling - Vöran - Mölten - Terlan - Bozen (until Hafling Dorf, than change to busline no. 225)
