Waterfalls in Lana and Surroundings near Merano

Impressive natural spectacles and the largest waterfall in South Tyrol

The waterfalls in the South Tyrolean Burggrafenamt region are impressive natural spectacles. In Lana and its surroundings there are several wild and romantic cascades that help to create a fresh and healing microclimate, including the waterfall visible from afar at the Kröllturm tower in Gargazzone/Gargazon and the Fragsburg waterfall above the spa town of Merano/Meran with 135 meters of waterfall drop.

Refreshing waterfalls can also be found in Lana itself, such as the Brandis waterfall at the end of the Brandis Waalweg trail. This beautiful, flat panoramic irrigation channel trail leads through chestnut groves and vineyards from Lana di Sopra/Oberlana to the Brandisbach stream. In the Gaulschlucht gorge, located near the historic village center, with its walkways and suspension bridges, enjoy the fresh climate of a forest thanks to the watercourses of the Falschauer brook and its cascades.

Waterfalls in the area
In the Passeiertal Valley, the Kalmtal waterfall in Saltusio/Saltaus and the Stieber waterfall in Moso/Moos are worth exploring. And at the foot of the Texelgruppe mountain range, the Parcines waterfall, with a waterfall drop of over 90 meters, roars over a freestanding rock face down into the depths. Around the cooling water, myriads of droplets shimmer in the colors of the rainbow and create a special and healthy climate, which relieves symptoms of those suffering from allergies or asthma.
