Schenna is characterised by its varied landscape, a deeply rooted culture of hospitality and traditions that remain very much alive. Together with local partners, we are helping shape the future development of tourism in the village. Existing and planned measures are documented, reviewed and developed further according to clearly defined criteria. The interests of local residents and visitors are considered throughout the process.
Looking ahead together
How should tourism in Schenna develop in the future? We approach this question from different perspectives, focusing on topics such as water and energy use, waste preven-tion, the interests of local residents, regional economic cycles and employment. These aspects inform the planning and assessment of individual measures, alongside the per-spectives of local residents, visitors and tourism businesses.
A structured process
Tourism in Schenna has developed over time and is deeply rooted in village life. To guide its future development in a structured way and encourage dialogue with the local com-munity, dedicated strategic tools have been developed.
In 2023, Schenna began working towards sustainability certification together with IDM South Tyrol. The certification process provides a structured framework for documenting measures already in place, defining the next stages of development and systematically examining environmental, social and economic aspects.
The process is supported by representatives of the Tourist Association, the municipality and other sectors. The Strategic Green Team is responsible for overall coordination, while the Operational Green Team coordinates ongoing activities. IDM South Tyrol supports the process. The Operational Green Team is headed by Sophie Regele, Sustainability Manager at the Schenna Tourist Association.
