Nature and Recreation in Lana and Environs

Feel good in alpine-mediterranean area. Relaxing between mountains and river delta.

The Lana region is where Alpine mountains meet southern fragrances. Around these parts, roses and chestnut trees grow almost side by side. Mountain peaks, Alpine pastures and extended orchards all offer the natural spectacle before your eyes. Dotted around the countryside are numerous spots for rest and relaxation: down in the valley, in the forests or ensconced between mountain peaks

Due to its hybrid Alpine-Mediterranean climate facing south of the Alps, the Lana region is home to a wide range of fauna and flora. Inhabiting these high mountains are chamois and marmots, as well as a number of bird species and amphibians indigenous to the Lana Falschauer delta. Down in the valley, palms, olive trees and tropical plants proliferate, while Alpine roses and mountain pines grow in the mountains. Although some organised tours are centred on discovering Nature, recreation is also prominent – such as excursions into the untamed Gaulschlucht gorge. There are also guided outings to the Kränzelhof estate in Tscherms/Cermes, with its gardens and winery, and visits to the famed Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle in Meran/Merano.
