Mindful in the mountains and valleys – exploring Lana and its surroundings

Tips and paths for mindful exploration in the Lana region

The Lana region is set in a diverse landscape of orchards, forests, gentle slopes, and mountains. It’s a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and those seeking relaxation – and at the same time, it’s a habitat for many animals and plants. To keep this balance, respect and mindfulness are essential.
Everyone moving through this area carries a responsibility – for nature, for other people, and for themselves. Being mindful means, for example, staying on marked trails, not leaving litter, showing care for wildlife, and avoiding unnecessary noise. Mutual respect – between visitors, locals, and agriculture – is also part of it.
Only if we all act consciously can Lana remain a place people enjoy visiting – and where future generations can also feel at home.

Drinking water in the Lana region

Tap water in the Lana region is of excellent quality and can be safely consumed. It mostly comes from natural springs in the surrounding mountains and valleys. You can drink tap water in accommodation establishments and restaurants without any problems.

In many villages of the Lana region you will find drinking fountains where you can refill your water bottle free of charge. Look out for marked fountains or ask at the information office for the nearest drinking water points.

Refilling your reusable water bottle instead of buying new plastic bottles helps reduce plastic waste and significantly lowers CO₂ emissions.

Water is a valuable resource. Conscious and careful use helps preserve it for everyone.

For the second time, the Lana and environs is participating in the Südtirol CleanUp Days from September 18 to 21, 2025!

What are the CleanUP Days? These four days are an invitation for both residents and visitors of Lana region to help care for our environment and natural heritage. How? By simply collecting litter along our cherished paths and locations.

The process is simple and inclusive. Participation is open to everyone and completely free. You can join as an individual or form a team with a unique name. Choose any day between September 18 and 21 to focus on litter collection, then register your activity on the interactive CleanUP Map. This map displays all participant actions and planned activities, as well as suggestions for areas that need cleaning.

Each participant or team will receive a CleanUP Kit, which includes a stainless-steel grabber and a bag made from recycled plastic by the Wildplastic company, using the plastic collected during cleanups.
You can pick up your CleanUP Kit at designated distribution points marked on the CleanUP Map. The map also shows waste disposal points for the collected litter.

There are also guided CleanUP events organized by local associations that you can join. At the bottom of this page, you'll find the scheduled guided CleanUPs in the Lana region for the South Tyrol CleanUP Days. For some events, you can simply show up at the meeting point, while others require prior registration, which is always free. Participants in guided CleanUPs will receive their CleanUP Kit at the meeting point, so there's no need to pick it up beforehand.

After collecting litter, you can dispose of the bags at collection points located throughout the Lana region. These points are also shown on the CleanUP Map, and the disposal containers are clearly marked with the South Tyrol CleanUP Days logo.

Finally, everyone who registers their CleanUP activity on the interactive CleanUP Map will be entered into a contest with a chance to win prizes provided by the Südtirol CleanUP Days sponsors.
