Film in Italian: Foxcatcher

Olympic wrestling champion Mark Schultz is contacted by emissaries of billionaire John du Pont. The heir to an industrial dynasty, du Pont wants to build a team of wrestlers to uphold the prestige of the United States at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He will be the financier and coach. Mark sees this invitation as an opportunity to break free from his older brother, also a champion, but he soon realizes that Du Pont suffers from psychological disorders stemming from a total dependence on the judgment of his elderly mother. When the words “Inspired by true events” appear at the beginning of a film, attentive viewers are struck by the fear of a chronological reconstruction. This is not the case in Bennett Miller's film, which goes beyond the facts to delve into the complex psychology of the protagonists of a story centered on the heir to a family that built an empire from the Civil War onwards by selling ammunition.
