Along the
mountain and hiking trails in Tirolo the managed mountain huts are welcoming places for visitors to stop for a rest. Surrounded by the mountains and nature of the Texelgruppe mountains, the landscape and views stimulate the appetite. It’s just as well, then, that the local hut landlords are superbly well prepared for hungry hikers. They serve good food that is predominantly home made in the parlor or on the terrace with mountain views. This includes tasty Alpine butter, home-smoked Speck bacon, Kaiserschmarrn pancakes, shepherds’ macaroni, plus a cool beer or a nice glass of wine. Then, fully satisfied and fortified, on they go. The decision as to where is not always easy: up to the summit, or perhaps to the nearest lounger, which is waiting temptingly in the idyllic sunshine...
