Brunnenburg Castle in Tirolo

Former home of the poet, Ezra Pound

Built in 1250 on a glacial moraine by Wilhelm Tarant, Brunnenburg Castle takes its name from a nearby fountain. Abandoned for centuries, the property was renovated in the 20th century before becoming the residence of Ezra Pound. It was here that the American poet completed his epic Cantos series. Today, Brunnenburg Castle not only houses the Agricultural Museum of South Tyrol, but also serves as a cultural exchange center. The Ezra Pound Memorial is now under the auspices of the heirs of the poet, the Rachewiltz family.
