Walk right round the Texelgruppe mountain range on the Meraner Höhenweg Trail

The Meraner Höhenweg or Merano High Mountain Trail (which is assigned route number 24) is one of the loveliest circular hikes in the Alpine region. Covering around 100 km and with a total altitude difference of 5,000 meters, it passes around the Texelgruppe mountain range and the nature park of the same name. Experienced, sure-footed hikers can complete the entire circular route over five to eight day-long stages; of course it is also possible just to hike individual legs. In Dorf Tirol the Hochmuth cable car carries hikers directly to the starting point of the Meraner Höhenweg.
It is easy to manage without your car. The various access points to the trail can be reached quickly and easily by hiking taxi, cable car or shuttle service. Along the way, refuge huts, mountain inns and alpine pastures provide plenty of places to take a break and find a bite to eat.

The Stettiner Hütte mountain hut was destroyed by an avalanche in 2013/2014. At this place, a temporary arrangement is provided from July 2017 (approx. 50 sleeping opportunities). The reconstruction phase of the mountain hut is planned for 2018.
