Hiking up with the sheep - traditional sheep drive in the Schnalstal Valley

For many centuries, around 1,500 sheep from the Schnalstal Valley and the Vinschgau have crossed the Niederjoch every year at the beginning of June to reach the alpine pastures in the Ötztal Valley. Together with the shepherds and drovers, we accompany the sheep from Kurzras up to the Hochjoch. During this hike, you can experience this ancient tradition up close and learn a great deal about it.
Upon arrival at the Schöne Aussicht mountain hut, the group enjoys a traditional barley soup to regain strength. The return journey then follows the same route.
