Alpine tour to the Spronser Seen lakes

General description

The ten Spronser Seen lakes are located in the heart of the Texelgruppe Nature Park, the largest high-Alpine lake district. This circular tour requires no little stamina and a good head for heights, but rewards experienced hikers with splendid views from various perspectives.

Route description
Take the cable car up the mountain to the Hochmuth and from there walk for 15 min. steeply uphill to the Steinegg inn via Leiteralm and then left along the Meraner Höhenweg (High Mountain Trail – only for those with a head for heights) to the Hochgang refuge (1839 m). Next head steeply uphill to the Hochgangscharte (2455 m; only for surefooted walkers with a head for heights). Left past Langsee Lake and down to the Oberkaser Alp (refuge hut, 2131 m). Return via the Jägersteig (trail no. 22) to the Mutkopf inn (1684 m) and then continue to the Hochmuth cable car and travel back on this to Dorf Tirol.

Along the Bolzano/Bozen-Meran/Merano expressway to the exit Meran South-Sinich/Sinigo - Dorf Tirol/Tirolo - along the main street and Haslachstraße street to the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car.
