Pfandler Alm Mountain Hut near St. Martin/S. Martino

Andreas Hofer hid for one and a half months with his family at the Pfandler Alm mountain hut, above St. Martin/S. Martino. On January 28, 1810, he was captured and taken to Bozen/Bolzano and Mantova.

The Pfandler Alm is only accessible on foot.

Description to arrive at destination
  • Coming from Merano/Meran towards the Passeiertal Valley, take the Jaufenstraße/via Passo Giovo SS44 to St. Martin/S. Martino, turn left at the first street (before the playgroud) and follow the street Prantach/Prantago for ca. 5 km 
  • Coming from the Jaufenpass/Passo Giovo towards Merano/Meran, take the Jaufenstraße/via Passo Giovo SS44 to St. Martin/S. Martino, turn right at the last street (after the playgroud) and follow the street Prantach/Prantago for ca. 5 km 
  • Coming from the Timmelsjoch/Passo Rombo towards Moos/Moso, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße/Via Passo del Rombo towards St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo on the same road, then continue towards Merano/Meran on the Jaufenstraße/via Passo Giovo SS44 to St. Martin/S. Martino, turn right at the last street (after the playgroud) and follow the street Prantach/Prantago for ca. 5 km
