The Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley is home to
traditional mountain agriculture. Cows and sheep graze on mountain pastures and gardens produce fruit, vegetables and herbs.
Under difficult circumstances,
local mountain farmers use milk to make cheese or yogurt and hand make bread, honey and jam. These natural products can be tasted at the various
mountain huts, and purchased at farm shops as well as at the Zuanochten farmers’ market. Along with South Tyrolean cuisine, Ultental Valley
restaurants also serve classic Italian specialties.
