Winter Hiking in the Ultental Valley

Step by step through a winter wonderland

Winter hiking in Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley combines peaceful winter activity with experience of local farming culture. A variety of groomed winter hiking trails stretch along the Stilfser Joch National Park and the Schwemmalm ski and hiking area and lead to remote mountain restaurants and refuges.

A unique winter hiking experience can be found at the Ultner Hoefeweg farms hiking trail, leading from the town of Pracupola/Kuppelwies to Santa Geltrude/St.Gertraud and passing by traditional farmhouses. The Ultental Valley Folklore Museum in the town of San Nicolò/St. Nikolaus introduces the intriguing world of original mountain farming.

Popular snowshoeing destinations in the Ultental Valley include the Schwemmalm ski area above the town of Pracupola/Kuppelwies, as well as the area around the village of Proves/Proveis in neighboring Alta Val di Non/Deutschnonsberg.
