Winter Hike to the Timmelsalm Alp

This walk is easy to complete in good weather and snow conditions.

The trail is made accessible with the help of a small tracked vehicle.

End point: Timmelsbrücke bridge

Directions

From Timmelsbrücke bridge, follow the track along the right-hand side of the valley to a small power station. The route then leads further into the valley above the Passer through a right-hand and left-hand hairpin bend. Continue through two more hairpin bends until you reach a livestock gate. Shortly afterwards, at a trail junction, you reach the beautiful valley floor with Timmelsalm Alp. Crossing the valley floor, you reach the newly built Timmelsalm Alp at an altitude of 2,000 m within a few minutes.

Recommended equipment

Wear warm, weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy and waterproof hiking boots and, if necessary, traction aids such as microspikes or crampons. Walking poles can provide additional support on snowy and slippery trails.

• Coming from Meran towards the Passeiertal Valley, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to St. Leonhard, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße to Moos. After Moos, continue to the parking place Timmelsbrücke bridge.

• Coming from the Timmelsjoch, take the Timmelsjochstraße until just before Moos, then continue to the parking place Timmelsbrücke bridge.

• Coming from the Jaufenpass towards St. Leonhard, take the Jaufenstraße SS44, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße towards Moos and further along the Timmelsjochstraße. After Moos, continue to the parking place Timmelsbrücke bridge.

Parking is available directly at the Timmelsbrücke Bridge.

Take enough water and food with you and plan your hike so that you return before it gets dark.
