Seoul, 1980. Kim is a widowed taxi driver, in debt and with a daughter to support. The turmoil that characterises the political climate of those years in South Korea does not shake his average man's values. Until one day Kim takes over a client for another driver: a German photojournalist, willing to spend a hundred thousand won to be taken to Gwang-ju, in the south of the country, to film the repression of student protests by the military and let the world know what is happening in Korea. The trip will change Kim's values forever. The film is based on the true story of German journalist Jürgen Hinzpeter and Korean taxi driver Kim Sa-bok.
