Every year 8 million holidaymakers flock to South Tyrol. Many locals also enjoy the high-value free time here and go out more often than previously. But who is to serve all these guests?

In the high season, bars, hotels and restaurants nowadays need an army of 40,000 waiters, cooks, maids, etc. – twice as many as 20 years ago. While guests still seem to come unbidden, the hospitality industry is finding it increasingly difficult to attract staff: even more so than other industries.
