In 1525, the ‘Meraner Landtag’ took place in Merano, at which farmers and citizens introduced a new provincial constitution. At the same time, Brixen was an important scene of the Tyrolean Peasants' War under the leadership of Michael Gaismair, while Klausen was the centre of the Anabaptist movement that spread throughout Tyrol. What happened during this turbulent time in the 16th century and how are these events and movements connected?
