General description
A sunny panoramic hike linking Partschins and Naturns via the Sonnenberg mountain slope. The Vinschgau Sonnenberg is famous for its distinctive steppe-like vegetation, rare in the Alps. Due to its exposure, the hike is best enjoyed in spring and autumn.

Partschins bus turning area – Max von Isser Street – Peter Mitterhofer Square – church square – Wasserfallweg – Sonnenbergweg – suspension bridge – farm inn Winklerhof – Sonnenberg Panoramic Trail 91 – restaurant Wiedenplatzerkeller - Wallburgweg - Naturns central bus stop
The starting point of the hike is Parcines. Opposite the bus turning point, the route leads into Max-von-Isser-Street to Peter Mitterhofer Square. From there, the path continues to the right towards the church square with the parish church of St. Peter and Paul.
The route then climbs briefly along the Waterfall Path to the junction with the Partschins Sonnenberg trail (trail 39).
From here, follow the Sonnenberg trail towards the suspension bridge and continue to the Winklerhof farm inn. The route then joins the Sonnenberg Panorama Trail 91 leading towards Naturns.
For most of the way, the trail runs at almost constant altitude and offers impressive views across the Adige Valley and the Vinschgau Valley. Immediately after the suspension bridge there is a short but steeper ascent; afterwards the trail continues pleasantly with wide panoramic views.
The path continues until reaching a small road. Follow this road for a few minutes to the Wiedenplatzer restaurant. At the restaurant’s parking area, the Wallburgweg trail begins towards Wallburgböden.
This historically significant site was probably already the location of a lower and upper hillfort during the Iron Age. Even today, the place is regarded as a special spot of natural energy.
From the restaurant, a path leads through light woodland with sweet chestnut trees and climbs relatively steeply for about five minutes to reach the Wallburgweg.
The Wallburgweg follows the course of a former irrigation channel trail. The almost level path runs along the slopes of the Naturns Sonnenberg and also passes the old Waaler hut.
The trail then continues almost level along the slopes of the Naturns Sonnenberg before descending via trail 6 towards the centre of Naturns, ending at the bus stop "Naturns Rathaus"
