The Marlinger Waalweg is one of the most beautiful irrigation canal in the Meran/Merano region. With a length of 12 km, it is the longest irrigation canal trail in South Tyrol. It starts in Töll/Tel (municipality of Partschins/Parcines) and leads through the villages of Forst/Foresta (municipality of Algund/Lagundo), Marling/Marlengo, Tscherms/Cermes and Lana. The trail runs almost level along the irrigation canal and is ideal for families and children. Between chestnut groves and extensive orchards, the magnificent views of the Meran/Merano basin are inspiring. The ideal hiking time for this irrigation canal trail is spring (when the trees are in blossom) and autumn.
Töll/Tel, Hydro-electricity station
Lana, Central bus-station, Vigiljoch/San Vigilio cableway valley station
Starting the Marlinger Waalweg at Töll/Tel, Hydro-electricity station, then the path goes on above the town of Marling/Marlengo and past Tscherms/Cermes and it ends in Lana. It stays at an even level as it meanders along the water irrigation canal and is ideal for families with small children. It is lined with chestnut trees and extensive fruit orchards and gives wonderful panorama views out over the entire Meran/o basin.
