Merano High Mountain Trail No. 24 – from the Texelbahn mountain station via Hohe Wiege & Hochganghaus to Partschins

Panoramic high-level hike from the Texelbahn mountain station on trail 24 via Tablander Alm, Hohe Wiege and Hochganghaus, descending on trails 7 and 7A to Partschins.

General description

The Merano High Mountain Trail (No. 24) circles the Texel Group for almost 100 km, linking farms, villages and valleys. This stage is a perfect snapshot of the trail: classic high-level path scenery, open panoramas and sweeping views over the Merano region.

Texelbahn mountain station – Merano High Mountain Trail 24 – Nasereit Hut – Tablander Alm – Hohe Wiege – Hochganghaus – trail 7 – trail 7A – Partschins

From the Texelbahn cable car mountain station (1,544 m), follow the Merano High Mountain Trail No. 24 eastwards towards Nasereit Hut and on to Tablander Alm (1,788 m).

Continue along the high trail via Hohe Wiege (1,809 m) to Hochganghaus (1,839 m), one of the most scenic sections of this stage with wide-ranging views.

From Hochganghaus, descend steeply on trails 7 and 7A down to Partschins (642 m), where the stage ends.

Alternative route:If the steep descent from Hochganghaus to Partschins is too demanding, the following alternative is recommended:

From Hochganghaus, continue along the Merano High Mountain Trail No. 24 to Leiter Alm (Vellau) (approx. 1 hour walking time).

From there, descend by basket lift to Vellau (bus line 235 towards Merano), or alternativelycontinue from the lower basket lift station by Algund chairlift down to Algund/Mitterplars (bus line 213 back to Partschins).

The starting points of our hiking tours can be reached comfortably and in an environmentally friendly way by bus and train.
