Only in German - Homo Tiroler is Jakob Windschnur's new solo show: stand-up comedy, music and a personal journey of self-discovery.
The evening begins with a simple question: Who or what exactly is a Homo Tiroler?
One thing is certain – it's a rather peculiar species. Jakob Windschnur takes the audience on a journey through a region that needs explaining to be understood, yet becomes all the more mysterious the closer you look. The show explores housing shortages, tourism and neighbourhood disputes.
Along the way, we meet the mountain hut owner who turns anything and everything into a business opportunity. The ski instructor who finds a season on the slopes more exhausting than his guests do. The city snob whose leisurely day doesn't begin until half past nine. And the farmer who has to keep up with the times but prefers to take his time doing so.
And who knows – perhaps by the end, we'll finally understand what makes the Homo Tiroler tick.
At the end of this journey stands a man who has been lying in the ice for 5,000 years and continues to spark controversy to this day. Because the most honest answer to the question of what defines the Homo Tiroler is probably this: the first known member of our species was murdered. By one of us.
And what has changed since then? Less than we'd like to admit.
