The Via Claudia Augusta and the extraordinary history of Rabland & Töll

Cultural village tour through Rabland and Töll

During this guided walk, you will learn about the historical witnesses of the Via Claudia Augusta, the importance of the two districts Töll and Rabland during Roman times, and many other fascinating insights into history, art and culture.

Approach

Arrival by bus:

From Parcines / from Merano: take the bus to Töll (“Schleuse” stop). Cuse the pedestrian/cycle bridge to reach the meeting point

From Rabland / from the Vinschgau valley: take the bus to Töll (“Dorf” stop – near Hotel Botango). Follow the main road towards Merano until you reach the water lock / “Schleuse Töll” (approx. 5 min walk).

Arrival by train:

Take the train to Töll station. Follow Bahnhofstraße towards Merano, cross the bridge, then follow the cycle path towards Merano until you reach the water lock / “Schleuse Töll” (approx. 15 min walk).

To bring along

Ticket or money for the short train ride from Töll to Rabland, comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather and temperatures, and possibly rain protection.

Together with Claudia Gilli, certified tourist guide, you will explore the historic districts of Rabland and Töll. As you stroll through the hamlets of Parcines, Claudia will share captivating stories and surprising facts about the village and its inhabitants. She has a story to tell on every corner and invites you to benefit from her extensive knowledge.

A short train ride takes you from Töll to Rabland – dogs are welcome! However, please remember that a muzzle and a separate ticket for your four-legged friend are required.

The tour ends in Rabland – return to the starting point is not provided!
