Terme Merano

Modern thermal spa with 26 pools, a varied sauna area and soothing spa treatments. In summer, the spacious thermal park and its Bio Nature Pool add to the experience.

Terme Merano is a modern thermal spa and wellness complex in the city centre. Opened in 2005, it continues Merano’s long tradition as a spa town, which dates back to the 19th century. The interiors were designed by architect Matteo Thun.
Today, Terme Merano is one of the city’s main attractions for wellness and leisure. The complex offers 26 indoor and outdoor pools, including thermal pools, whirlpools and seasonal outdoor pools set within spacious park grounds. Guests can also unwind in an extensive sauna area with Finnish saunas, steam rooms, a bio hay sauna, relaxation rooms, a snow shower and a snow room. The facilities also include a spa offering massages and beauty treatments, a modern fitness centre with gym equipment and classes, a bistro and a shop.
Terme Merano is open all year round, welcoming both locals and visitors.

The thermal park and its seasonal outdoor pools are open from mid-May to mid-September.
Please check the website for opening hours.

Public transport
From Merano railway station, take city bus no. 1 or no. 4 to the “Meran, Theaterplatz” stop,
then continue on foot for approximately 5 minutes.
Description to arrive at destination
From the city centre, Terme Merano is best reached on foot. If you are cycling, the cycle path along the River Passer takes you directly to Piazza Terme, where bicycle parking is available.
Arrival by car
The large, spacious underground car park at Terme Merano offers plenty of parking in a central location, just a short walk from the spa and Merano’s city centre. Electric vehicle charging stations and designated accessible parking spaces are also available.
You will find bicycle parking at Piazza Terme. Please avoid leaving bicycles and e-scooters on walkways or in front of entrances. They can pose a hazard to blind and partially sighted people and obstruct access for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs. Please use the designated parking areas and keep access routes clear.
Author's tip

To adapt to high temperatures, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Choose light-coloured, loose, and breathable clothing made from natural fibres such as linen to stay cool. Wear a hat or cap to protect your face from the sun and sunglasses to shield your eyes from UV rays.
  • Use a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (at least SPF 30) and reapply it regularly, especially if you are sweating.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle and drink regularly to maintain hydration.
  • Stay in shaded areas as much as possible to avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Wet wipes or cool packs can help lower your body temperature. Place them on your wrists, neck, or other pulse points. Hand fans or battery-operated portable fans can also provide a refreshing breeze.
  • Avoid heavy, greasy meals. Opt for light, water-rich snacks such as fruits and vegetables to keep yourself energized and cool.

These measures contribute to making your stay relaxed and safe.
