Apple in the Glass – A Sensory Comparative Tasting

Fresh apple varieties and fine distillates in direct comparison. A journey through aroma, structure, and finish.

During this special tasting as part of the Apple Weeks, we encounter the apple in two dimensions: as fresh fruit and as a fine distillate. Step by step, we explore the sensory characteristics of selected apple varieties – their sweetness, acidity, texture, and aromatic profile – and compare them with their distilled counterparts.

At the heart of the experience lies one intriguing question:

How does an apple transform through the art of distillation?

Together with apple sommelier Christine Schönweger, participants will experience:

• mindful tasting of different apple varieties

• recognition of characteristic aroma profiles

• direct comparison between fruit and distillate

• fascinating insights into variety selection, processing, and the craft of distillation

A tasteful journey between freshness and finesse – for those who wish not only to taste the apple, but to truly understand it.
