Climate change affects nature, society and the economy, changing the conditions that shape everyday life and tourism in Schenna. As not all of its effects can be predicted in detail, potential developments and suitable adaptation measures need to be considered at an early stage.
In 2019, the Burggrafenamt District Community launched the “KlimaPlan Burggrafenamt” project, involving 25 municipalities. The project was coordinated by the District Communi-ty’s Department for Environment, Mobility and Technical Services and funded by the Province’s Office for Energy and Climate Protection together with the participating munic-ipalities. Targets for consumption and emissions were defined for the period up to 2030, together with measures designed to support these targets. A specific climate plan was developed for each municipality, or an existing plan was updated, while a joint plan was also prepared for the district as a whole.
Schenna’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan, developed by IDM South Tyrol and the Schenna Tourist Association, examines the potential effects of climate change on tourism and identifies areas where adaptation may be required. These include water management, changing requirements across the seasons and infrastructure planning.
