Cycling at various altitudes from valleys up to the summits is possible until late autumn along the local trail network. The network of
cycling paths around
Schenna/Scena leads across an area ranging from the stunning Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle in the spa town of Meran/Merano to high
mountain trails beneath the summits.
On hot summer days,
mountain bikers can enjoy the shade along the wooded trails and forest roads.
Electric bicycles can also be used to enjoy the magnificent scenery along the Passer river as far as Merano or the Passeiertal Valley/Val Passira. At the end of a long ride, relax at one of many spa hotels in Schenna.
Thanks to the
mild climate in Meran and Environs, the cycling trails in Schenna are practicable from March to November. There are
numerous service points along the trail network, and a number of local hotels also arrange
bicycle tours with professional guides.
Several clearly signposted routes have been newly installed, together with a new
bike rental and maintenance service.
Tip
A
train + bike combo ticket (Bahn & Bike Ticket) enables cyclists to see more of South Tyrol. Thanks to the combined cycle and train service, rental bicycles may be hired at one railway station and returned at another, eliminating the need for bike transport.
