Schenna is embarking on a transformative journey towards a greener future. Known for its breathtaking landscapes, warm hospitality, and rich cultural traditions, Schenna has always been a unique destination. Now, we are setting our sights on certifying Schenna as a sustainable destination by 2025. Our goal is to harmoniously blend nature, local life, and tourism to secure a thriving future for generations to come.
A Shared Commitment to Sustainability
Our commitment to making Schenna more sustainable stems from our belief in collective responsibility for our environment and society. For us, sustainability encompasses not just environmental protection, but also social equity and economic stability. We are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of both our residents and visitors.
Our Path to Sustainability
Schenna has a tourism industry that is historically rooted and deeply embedded in society. To ensure its long-term acceptance within the community, we have sought strategic tools to effectively manage the development process. Together with IDM South Tyrol, we embarked on the journey towards sustainability certification in 2023. We are not pursuing certification for its own sake but to initiate sustainable change. However, change can only succeed through collaboration. For this reason, we formed a core team that operates across sectors and includes representatives from the Tourism Association and the Municipality of Schenna. The Green Team Strategy sets the framework for the process. Over the course of the project, the team has been expanded to include additional members from non-tourism-related fields. Operationally, the process is managed by the core Green Team Operations and supported by IDM South Tyrol. The Sustainability Officer of the Schenna Tourism Association is Director Stefan Kaserbacher, who leads the Green Team Operations.
